A review from Spotted by locals by Josh Ferry Woodard

I just can’t get enough of ICCO – the Italian Coffee Company – and its wonderful pizzas.

In my opinion this is the best value pizzeria in town. A delicious 11-inch Margherita with tomato and basil sauce and mozzarella cheese costs just £ 4. And my favourite pizza, the ‘Special’, which comes with artichokes, black olives and an egg in the middle, is only slightly more expensive at £ 5.

The chefs at ICCO don’t mess around. They knock back the dough behind the counter with great haste, ready to apply the sauce and arrange the ingredients swiftly and accurately as the orders come in. I would estimate that it takes less than five minutes from the moment that an order is placed to the moment that the pizza is packed into a box and handed to the customer.

Apart from the fact that the pizzas are cheap, fresh and tasty – the holy trinity of fast food – the other thing that I like about ICCO is the buzzer system. When you place an order you are given a strange see-through plastic disk, which vibrates and flashes when your pizza is ready.

I love the feeling of excitement when the buzzer goes off, it reminds me of hearing the lunch bell back at school, but that feeling of elation is always eclipsed shortly afterwards as I take my first bite out of the hot and tasty pizza.
